Sonic CD 3D

An adaptation of Sonic's iconic look from Sonic CD into 3D.

Sonic has had a lot of different looks over the years but I've always loved this design. It was created by Toei Animation for the animated cutscenes of Sonic CD, often called Toei Sonic or Junio Sonic. When I think of simplistic yet effective character design, it's one of the first things that come to mind.

I've been wanting to learn how to better translate the appeal of 2D Art into 3D, so I took this as an exercise in studying that, trying to capture that focus on simple shapes and colour without losing appeal, and highly adaptable custom rig set-ups that give the character the same level of flexibility as a drawing.
